The app

No account, no analytics, no crash reports unless you email one. Every few minutes Panes checks for a new version by downloading a small version file from our release server. The request carries no personal data or identifiers: no license key, no settings, no cookies. You can turn it off in Settings, General. Otherwise Panes only goes online when you click Buy, Activate or Check for updates.

• Accessibility lets Panes move and resize windows and notice the shortcut keys you press. It does not read what you type into other apps.
• Screen Recording lets Panes draw the small window previews in the switcher. Each window's latest preview is kept in memory (at most 64) so the switcher can show it instantly, and is dropped when the window closes, when you turn Screen Recording off, or when Panes quits. Windows on other desktops are captured through a macOS system interface, since the standard one only sees the current desktop. Nothing is recorded, written to disk or sent.
• Your settings and license key are stored on your Mac only.

This website

No cookies, no analytics, no third party scripts. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for a short time to run and protect the site. We do not use them to profile anyone.

When you buy

Dodo Payments handles checkout as the merchant of record, which means they process your payment, tax and receipt under their privacy policy. We receive your email address and the order details. We use your email to create your license key and to answer you if you contact us. We do not keep a separate customer database, and we never send marketing email.

When you email us

We use your message to reply to you. If you send a log file, we use it only to fix the problem it shows.
